The Ad Astra series is the result of a creative evolution drawn from the extensive studio and live experience of Özgür Can Öney. With over 20 years of concert experience worldwide, this series focuses on large, dark and dynamic cymbals with a controlled, structured voice. Inspired by the Latin motto "Ad Astra per Aspera" – through hardship to the stars – it embodies the path to an exceptional sound. At Turkish Cymbals, every Ad Astra cymbal is made entirely by hand in Istanbul, in close collaboration between Istanbul's master cymbalsmiths and artists of strong character: cast from premium B20 bronze, hand-hammered and lathed. Its design, reminiscent of an Ottoman shield, radiates vitality.

Dark, controlled sound with clear articulation

Through the intense forging process in the furnace fire, the cymbals acquire their characteristically dark colour and elegant texture – the basis of a uniquely balanced sound. The hand-hammered, lathed surface allows precise, controlled playing with tempered sustain and clear articulation, while the larger, turned bells deliver a clear, penetrating attack – without intrusive overtones.
